Game Test, 1981

Lynn Book’s sculpture “Game Test”, was an assembled mixed media work made of found objects, wood, hinges and paint. Dimensions were approximately 3’x5’ and like “Game Map” and the “Body Chart” drawing series were closely related in their use of seemingly universal symbols and forms to invite interaction and direct attention to the futility of a rigid order connected to rational consensus. Instead, the artist proposes that there are deeply subjective and often playful experiences at the margins and embedded deep within rational structures that invariably disturbs or defies them.
