Collections
The Lynn Book Projects Archive “Collections” are comprised of three main categories: Projects, Early Works and Process. These Collections aggregate data – the digitized artifacts of a given work, or era, or stream of creative activity – and are intended to assist navigation of particular artworks and their associated materials. This feature of the archive differs from “Items” which delivers all data files without obvious ordering hierarchies.
Within the various Collection groups are several sub-collections, for instance: Projects includes Audio Works with several separate and distinct recordings; Early Works includes Performance Art or Sculpture with individual artworks or projects within those. Process is a third category that brings attention to the artist’s ongoing practices, methods and experiments that serve as undercurrent and impetus.
Projects (1983 – 2015) are considered fully developed works in a range of media, with a focus on performance:
- multimedia performance works
- concert performances
- audio recordings
- installations or other exhibition-based works
- video art works
Early Works (1978 – 1983) are concerned with projects, process and studies in a range of media that highlights material and visual engagement along with early performance art development:
- drawings
- sculpture
- performance art
- video art
- writing
Process (1983 – 2020) surfaces ongoing practices central to the artist’s creative process overall and not necessarily related to particular projects. This Collection will be coming soon:
- writing
- sketchbooks
- drawings and mixed media
- photographs
- audio journal recordings and transcriptions
