Gorgeous Fever, 1994, Chicago, Randolph Street Gallery, video documentation

Description

Lynn Book’s original multimedia performance project, Gorgeous Fever, was a delirious meditation on themes of illness, sexuality, power and transformation. It launched at Randolph Street Gallery in Chicago in 1994. Book was writer, artistic director, performer, co-designer and co-composer. There were many collaborators and contributors to Gorgeous Fever as it evolved over the next 3 years from its premiere in Chicago to its final production in 1997 in New York at The Kitchen, both venues being renowned as alternative contemporary arts venues which supported and promoted critically creative experimentation in the arts. This video is an unedited documentation of a live performance that was directed by Jill Daly and included a film by experimental filmmaker, Sharon Couzin.
