Because it's Round?, 1986, Chicago, MoMing Performing Arts Center, performance documentation 2 of 3
Description
This edited video documentation shows about 20 minutes from “Because It’s Round?”, an original multimedia performance project by Lynn Book. Themes of crowds, power, sentimentality and the event of the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion guided the framework that Book realized through image, movement, text and staging ideas from her background in modern dance, sculpture and her experimental writing. It was presented at MoMing Dance and Arts Center, Chicago, an important space founded by Sally Banes and others in the 1970s to present nationally recognized contemporary dance choreographers. Book was on a double bill with Hudson (who later founded Feature Gallery).
