Description

The 1993 release of “dice”, a CD recording that was first in a series of what came to be known as” the dice chronicles” - audio recordings and concert performances featuring “adventurous women composers” from around the U.S. Lynn Book contributed “Dream River” composed and recorded with bassist Tatsu Aoki, to this first collection, curated by Elise Kermani and released on the Ishtar Label and digitally mastered at Studio Pass. The “dice” CD release concert occurred at The Knitting Factory in its original location on Houston Street in New York CIty in 1993, where Book performed with renowned avant garde bassist and composer, William Parker. A 30-minute video documentation of this performance is in the Concert Performance Collection in the Lynn Book Projects Archive. See also “dice 2 (she says)”, the second CD recording co-produced by Book with Kermani in 1996 and mastered at Harvestworks, a well-known new audio and experimental media center in New York CIty focusing on technology, engineering, art and music (T.E.A.M.). In this subcollection, the “dice” CD can be heard in its entirety and Book’s “Dream River” composition with Aoki, as well as press reviews, releases and announcements for the CD release concert.
