Title
Water Dirges, 1983
Description
This short stand-alone audio work was recorded by Lynn Book on a Marantz field unit in her Chicago apartment during her first winter living in the city. The piece was cut and spliced on a ¼” open reel Teac tape recorder. The piece explores acoustic aspects of water: flowing, pouring, running, and gargling (while singing). Water motifs appeared in several performances as actions during the early to mid 80s and reappeared in the last Mercuria iteration in New York at HERE in 1998. The piece runs 4 minutes, 48 seconds.
