Gorgeous Fever, 1997, New York, The Kitchen, edited video sampler of performance

Description

This edited video from a live performance (running time: 9:20, format: Betacam SP) is of Lynn Book performing her original multimedia performance project, "Gorgeous Fever" during The Kitchen curated series, New York City, 1997. Anney Bonney shot and edited this video documentation that includes complete credits of all collaborators and support for the project. In this, the last iteration, Book created the “Gorgeous Fever Trio” an ensemble of musicians that joined her onstage to reinforce the “baroque cabaret drama” concept that prevailed. Book also invited Valeria Vasilevski into the project as director. The three-year project had several iterations and collaborators in multiple venues and US Cities, and also resulted in "Gorgeous Fever: the radio drama,” a stand-alone audio recording. The Kitchen is one of New York City’s oldest nonprofit spaces, showing innovative work by emerging and established artists across disciplines. Since its inception, The Kitchen has been a powerful force in shaping the cultural landscape of the US and has helped launch the careers of many artists who have gone on to worldwide prominence.
