Gorgeous Fever, 1996, New York, Todo con Nada, project video documentation

Description

This was the “basement” performance of Gorgeous Fever, an original multimedia performance project by Lynn Book about women, madness, and power. Todo con Nada, “the dark-hued jewel of the Lower East Side” was, indeed, a basement performance space that was an Obie award winning venue. The roughness and intimacy of ‘Nada’ brought out some of the intensity that became apparent in later versions of the project performed as a ‘radio drama’. Book worked briefly with New York director Rachel Wiseburg on this performance, as well as the Cleveland Performance Art Festival performance. The video was shot by E.J. Sims (a longtime collaborator) on November 14, 1995 and has a running time of approximately 51 minutes.

The film element within the performance was shot by Sharon Couzin and the sound recordings were designed by Dave Pavkovic with Lynn Book. Other credits and more information about the project can be found on the Gorgeous Fever Collection page
